What is the current status of the textile industry?

In the first three quarters of 2019, the textile industry's production, domestic sales, exports, and efficiency indicators rose and fell, and the overall operation remained basically stable.

First, production is stable and there is progress. From January to September, the industrial added value of textile enterprises above designated size increased by 2.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate was the same as that of the same period of the previous year. Among them, the industrial added value of the chemical fiber industry increased by 12.3% year-on-year, and the added value of the apparel and industrial textile industry increased by 1.6% and 7.4% respectively.

Second, domestic sales continued to grow. From January to September, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats and needles and textiles above designated size in the country was 947.9 billion yuan, up 3.3% year-on-year; the retail sales of online clothing in the country increased by 18.6% year-on-year, and continued to maintain double-digit growth.

Third, exports have declined. From January to September, China's textile and apparel exports reached US$201.95 billion, down 2.7% year-on-year. Among them, textile exports fell by 0.1% year-on-year, and clothing exports fell by 4.7% year-on-year; exports to emerging markets such as Africa increased by 8.5% year-on-year.

Fourth, the benefits are basically stable. From January to August, the national textile enterprises above designated size achieved a business income of 3,306.49 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%; the total profit reached 138.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7%; and the operating income margin was 4.2%.
